PFF’s Sam Monson joined Grant & Danny on Thursday to evaluate the Commanders’ offseason, which his outlet gave a B+, and go through what they may have missed to get that above-average but not top-tier grade.

Well, after hearing that, Grant & Danny decided to give their takes, breaking it down into grades for certain phases and averaging them together…and they kind of ended up in a similar spot.”

“I’d be right in the same area, and the reason it’s not an A, and I’m not over the moon, is that of the three or four biggest things I look at, two are absolute moonshot home runs – GM/front office and the quarterback,” Danny said, “but I think you need more on offense to help this young QB, especially at receiver and tackle, so those to me are B-/C+ type things. But overall, very solid.”

“I guess if I had to find a letter, I’m thinking B-, which is above-average. I don’t think it’s an A offseason,” GP said. “I think they got the best GM available and the one I wanted, but think they could’ve found a better coach, which to me is an offensive-minded coach – but they got the best guy if leader of men and culture-setter was the top criteria. Still, the giddiness I had for Adam Peters, I didn’t have that for Dan Quinn, and I still don’t understand why they didn’t interview more offensive-minded candidates.”

    And as for the personnel?

“I have a hard time picking major nits in free agency; I can’t give it a perfect score because we can want more, but it isn’t a reason to say it wasn’t good,” GP continued. “The most important thing they did was set the front office structure, which was a major win, so it all averages out.”
