Bush Highway reopens after wildfire burns 85 acres

Bush Highway in the northeast Valley reopened Monday night after being closed while crews worked to stop the progression of a wildfire at State Route 87, authorities said.

The road, which was closed between SR 87 and the Pobrecito staging area, reopened just before 11 p.m. May 27, according to the Maricopa County Department of Transportation.

Firefighters from the Tonto National Forest fought the blaze and reported on Facebook that “fire behavior has decreased significantly this evening and firefighters were successful in stopping forward progression of the fire.”

The fire covered an estimated 85 acres.
