Carter Hawkins: Pete Crow-Armstrong is 'definitely making a case' to get called back up by the Cubs

(670 The Score) In search of solutions and a spark amid a difficult stretch, the Cubs could soon turn back to 22-year-old outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, their top prospect who was optioned back to Triple-A Iowa just more than a week ago.

Since then, Crow-Armstrong has performed well, going 12-of-31 with four doubles and three homers in seven games. He’s hitting .255 with five home runs, 14 RBIs and an .808 OPS in 26 games in the minor leagues this season while batting .236 with a .659 OPS average in 23 games with the big league Cubs.

On Wednesday, Cubs general manager Carter Hawkins praised Crow-Armstrong for how he handled his recent demotion and responded. Hawkins acknowledged Crow-Armstrong could get called back up soon.

“He’s definitely making a case for it,” Hawkins told the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Wednesday. “The ability to play defense, the ability to go down there, take the option decision really well, get the at-bats in and just make the most out of the days down there. He really hasn’t missed a beat. That’s been super encouraging. So, he’s made a really, really strong case. I think there’s a decent chance that we’re a better team with him up here. That’s a decision we’re going to make sooner rather than later.”
