    Commission approves credit card, discusses area matters

    Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings May 22 – 23.

    Members:

    • Reviewed a contract from CPI technologies.
    • Approved a county credit card through Simmons Bank.
    • Approved a county credit card for purchases pre-approved by the county commission.
    • Held a closed session meeting with the sheriff.
    • Reviewed a support letter for improvements to the approach to a rail crossing.

    In other business, commissioners heard from:

    • Dan Cavender, BPJ Insurance, on county liability and property insurance.
    • Sheriff Scott Lindsey concerning Tiger Food Service and issues with IT.
    • County Clerk Peggy Seyler concerning paying a staples invoice online. The commission gave approval.
    • The maintenance department concerning switches and IT equipment.
    • Fred Stenger, Piney Township, inquiring about FEMA funds on recent storm damage.
    • Parke Stevens, county prosecutor, concerning lawsuits, SB190 and other topics.
    • George Sholtz on preventative services Texas County Memorial Hospital could provide to benefit county citizens.
    • Virginia Burcham spoke to the county clerk to inquire about correspondence with SCOCOG on the PWSD #1 water well project.
