Fresh snow is still on tap across the pond. Hintertux Glacier, an Austrian ski resort open for lift-accessed skiing 365 days a year, has issued a powder alert. Nearly eight inches of new snow fell at Hintertux.

The resort shared several images on Instagram that looked more like mid-November than late-May.

Ten of Hinterux’s 12 lifts were open today. At Gefrorene Wand, a 10,000-foot-plus peak on Hintertux’s piste, the snow is up to 196 inches deep. More snowfall is expected at Hintertux throughout today and tomorrow.

From December through April, Hintertux combines with several surrounding ski areas to form a resort supergroup called Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000.

Unlike some summer ski areas, most of Hinterux’s lifts can operate during the warmer months thanks to glacial snow, although the resort does reduce its available pistes. Come fall, various snowsports athletes descend on Hintertux to begin pre-season training. In the meantime, though, there are some extra late season powder turns to be caught at Hintertux.
