Road construction worker killed on US 231

A road construction worker died Friday afternoon after being struck by a dump truck, a Tippecanoe County Sherrif's Office release said.

Police arrived to the scene, the area of US 231 S and 800 S, around noon to find that a road construction worker had been struck within the work zone area and suffered critical injuries.

A dump truck driven by 39-year-old Anthony Huse struck the worker after Huse backed it up within the worksite, according to an initial investigation. The worker was transported to IU Health Arnett Hospital, where they passed away while being treated in the emergency department.

The identity of the victim worker will be released by the coroner’s office when proper notification has been made to the family of the victim.

The incident remains under investigation by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, and Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office.
