    Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement activity from 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to 5:30 a.m. Friday included:

    Wednesday, May 29

    „ Police responded at 1:52 p.m. to a report of an intoxicated person on a Helm Lane porch. The resident wanted Richard Lynn Dabbs, the suspect, to leave. Upon arrival, deputies immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the 67-year-old man. Dabbs also had slurred speech when talking and showed all six clues of intoxication on horizontal gaze nystagmus tests. Consequently, Dabbs was arrested at 2:21 p.m. on a public intoxication charge.

    „ Deputies stopped Kevin Wade McPherson Jr. as he drove into his rural address. Aware of warrants for his arrest, deputies took the 39-year-old Sulphur Springs man into custody at 7:18 p.m. for bond forfeiture on unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana charges, as well as a new charge for drivign while license invalid, deputies noted in arrest reports.

    Thursday, May 30

    „ An investigation by Sulphur Springs Police narcotics and patrol officers took them to a Carter Street residence, where they found Charmaine Denise Jeffery in possession of methamphetamine in her purse. The 47-year-old Sulphur Springs woman was arrested at 1:15 p.m. on Jefferson Street on a possession of a controlled substance charge, Also arrested on two possession of controlled substance charges was Kerry Louis Bailey. The 50-year-old resident was also found during the Carter Street investigation to be in possession of 9.2 grams of methamphetamine and 0.2 gram of crack cocaine, SSPD Lt. Mark Estes and Sgt. Brandon Mayes alleged in arrest reports. Both substances tested positive; so Bailey was arrested on two possession of a controlled substance charges.

    „ Police responded on Hinnant Street, where a wanted person was said to be located. Upon arrival, the officer contacted Laura Bess Williams. The 45-year-old Yantis woman was found to be wanted for violation of probation on a fraudulent use or possession of identifying information charge. Wiliams was taken into custody on the warrant.

    „ Police found Marisa Ann Kelley in the driver’s seat of a running Ford F150 pickup on North Jackson Street at 6:40 p.m. She had been reported as a suspected drunk driver leaving Chili’s and for driving recklessly in the area of Jefferson Street at Oak Avenue. The 33-year-old Dike woman was taken into custody following standard field sobriety tests. She resisted arrest and was “taken to the ground,” Cpl. Silas Whaley noted in arrest reports. She reportedly sustained an arm injury while resisting officers and was transported to the hospital by EMS. After being medically cleared, Kelley refused to submit a blood sample for analysis of blood-alcohol content. A blood search warrant was obtained from 8th Judicial District Judge Eddie Northcutt. The sample was taken and Kelley was transported to jail on a second offense driving while intoxicated charge and a resisting arrest, search or transport charge.

    „ Yatanya Yachell Calhoun was arrested at 1:18 p.m. on Bellview Street on a manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance charge. She was accused of aggreeing to sell narcotics to a confidential informant, who she met on Main Street, then took to a Bellview Street residence where money was exchanged for 2 grams of crack cocaine. A search of the residence by law enforcement revealed drug paraphernalia. The 38-yearold Sulphur Springs woman's cell phone was seized as evidence along with the contraband during investigation by the sheriff 's office's criminal investigations team and deputies. The substance field-tested positive for crack cocaine. Calhoun was arrested on the controlled substance charge, the Hopkins County Sheriff 's Office deputies and CID team alleged in arrest reports.

    „ Dewayne Miller Johnson was taken into custody at 1 p.m. on a warrant for a burn ban or illegal burning violation charge. He was found at the time to be in possession of a pipe of the kind commonly used to smoke methamphetamine and a pipe of the kind commonly used to smoke marijuana, resulting in an additional charge for possession of drug paraphernalia, deputies wrote in arrest reports.

    „ Sheriff's deptuies were dispatched to Hopkins County Regional Civic Center just before 7 a.m. to a complaint of a person trespassing. Upon arrival, they found Billy Shane McCormick walking on the road with the flow of traffic. The 43-year-old had been issued a criminal trespass warning on May 29, prohibiting him from returning to the Civic Center. Facility staff reported seeing McCormick on the property Thursday morning. McCormick was arrested on a criminal trespassing charge.

    „ Deputies responded at 4:20 a.m. to a complaint of an unwanted person at a County Road 1116 address. They were advised a woman, listed as a resident of the address, was inside the residence, causing a disturbance by damaging property with a metal pipe. The 42-year-old Sulphur Springs woman was accused of threatening the life of the homeowner and to strike him with the metal pipe. Tiffany Ann Cassell had reportedly locked the front door of the residence when deputies went to try to contact her, but conceeded to open it a short time later. She was reported to be wielding a metal pipe and wooden mop handle at the time. She did put down the pipe, but refused to drop the broom handle, deputies alleged in arrest reports. She became agitated while dealing with officers, who opted to use a taser to 'gain compliance and separate' the woman from the map handle,' deputies noted in arrest reports. When deputies tried to restrain her, Cassell allegedly became combative, while on the ground. They got her into handcuffs and had her medically cleared by EMS personnel before taking her to jail. Cassell was booked in at 6:08 a.m. on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, Sgt. Justin Wilkerson, Deputy Isaac Foley and Deputy Reed alleged in arrest reports.
