The founders of Tnto y Crema are expanding with a new concept set to open on Charleston’s peninsula this summer.
A venture from Carolina and Kevin Jewett, Tnto Caf and Provisions is set to open John Street this June, according to a news release. After the success of their first location, Tnto y Crema, the Jewetts are excited to move uptown and take part in the revival of John Street, the release stated.
Tnto will serve fine wines, charcuterie, house-blended gelato, fresh baked goods and small-batch locally roasted coffee alongside a small, artisanal provisional market, according to the release. With the help of former Brown’s Court Bakery owner and head baker, David Schnell, Tnto will continue its commitment to providing exceptional quality foods with Schnell’s guidance, the release stated.
“Kevin and I could not be more excited to share our family’s passion with more of the Charleston community,” founder and Carolina Jewett said in the release. “Growing up as a French-Hispanic girl in Charleston, I dreamed of opening my own business on the peninsula one day. After the success of Tnto y Crema, I knew that there was more to share.
“Tnto Caf and Provisions was designed as the intersection of my family’s diverse legacy and honor our home today, the Holy City.”

With a long family history in the Charleston coffee industry, Francisco and Caroline Davila started Coffee Roasters of Charleston and shortly after the Rainbow Caf on King Street where Carolina worked as a kid, according to the release. Davila is one of the original “master cuppers” of the Specialty Coffee Association of America.
Through Coffee Roasters of Charleston, Davila imported arabica coffee beans from around the world and was a true pioneer in the industry, teaching local restaurants how important that last taste truly is. His mission was, and still is to hear people say, “this is the best cup of coffee I have ever had,” the release stated.
Carolina and Kevin Jewett joined the family business officially in 2012 with hopes to grow Coffee Roasters of Charleston into a national brand, according to the release.. The Jewetts later acquired the former Belgian Gelato Caf at 6 Vendue Range in 2019 before rebranding to Tnto y Crema in 2021. Tnto y Crema serves the family’s small-batch locally roasted coffee and gourmet gelato, made from scratch daily.
