David Richard Crews

David Richard Crews, a lifelong resident of Granville County, passed away Thursday May 30, 2024 at his home.

He was born April 21, 1947 to the late David Reid Crews and Virginia Frances Bullock Crews. He was a member of Bullock United Methodist Church. Richard was a retired farmer and heavy equipment operator. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and gardening. Richard is survived by his wife, Laura Emory Crews; one son, Richard Jason Crews; two grandsons, Brandon Cole Crews and Bryson Cade Crews; a sister, June Crews Cross (Joel); a special cousin, Deborah Bullock Fletcher (Ronnie); his beloved dog, Smokey; and numerous extended family.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Jared Brandon Crews; his brothers, Hal Crews and Buddy Crews; his sister, Carolyn Crews Stovall; and nephews, Neil Crews, Marty Crews and Truett Emory.

The family wishes to thank all the many friends and relatives for support and expressions of love during Richard's brave cancer battle. His memory will live through the many lives he touched. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
