Former Avalanche forward could make NHL history

The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers will kick off the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night in Sunrise. Each club is full of superstar talent, so it should be a fantastic series.

Interestingly, this Stanley Cup Final is already set to make NHL history. For the first time in the league's history, the name Evan will appear on the Stanley Cup. This is a pretty surprising development, as Evan is a popular name, and the Stanley Cup was first rewarded in 1893.

So, which players have the chance of being the Evan to make NHL history? For the Edmonton Oilers, they have star defenseman Evan Bouchard. As for the Panthers, former Colorado Avalanche forward Evan Rodrigues will be pushing for the record.

Rodrigues, 30, signed a four-year, $12 million deal with the Panthers this past offseason after his one-year stint with the Colorado Avalanche. Like with the Avs, Rodrigues has provided solid depth scoring since becoming a Panther. In 80 regular-season games this season, he had 12 goals and 39 points. He also currently has three goals and eight points in 17 playoff games.

The Battle of the Evans will be a fun storyline to follow during this series between the Panthers and Oilers. Both clubs clearly have the potential to win, and it will be intriguing to see which Evan becomes the first to put on the Stanley Cup from here.
