Hip-pop icon Flavor Flav indulged in a lavish feast at Red Lobster as part of efforts to save the restaurant after the chain’s bankruptcy filing in May.

On Monday, June 3, the Public Enemy rapper, aged 65, took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his visit to a Red Lobster outlet. In a bid to preserve the delectable Cheddar Bay Biscuits, he made a substantial purchase.

Accompanied by a snapshot featuring the rapper amidst two brimming tables laden with an assortment of delicacies ranging from chips and calamari to the restaurant’s signature crustacean dishes, the artist wrote: “Ya boy meant it when I said I was gonna do anything and everything to help @redlobster and save the cheddar bay biscuits.”

“Ordered the whole menu,” he added.

In an Instagram update featuring the photo , Flavor Flav disclosed that he didn’t indulge in the menu offerings alone; instead, he brought along his entire family for the dining experience.

His daughter, Dazyna, hinted at her presence and echoed her father’s mission by reposting his message on her own Instagram profile, stating that it is important to “Save the biscuits!!!!”

Flavor Flav’s endeavor to support Red Lobster follows the company’s recent bankruptcy filing, marked by accumulating debt. The renowned seafood chain, celebrated for its iconic biscuits and endless shrimp deal, faces financial strain, leading to a May 19 court filing for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Florida, as reported by the Associated Press.

This move came shortly after the closure of numerous restaurants in response to financial challenges, according to Consequence Sound.

Red Lobster released a statement on the day of the bankruptcy filing, outlining plans to implement operational enhancements, streamline business operations through location reductions, and explore the sale of most of its assets. The restaurant chain said it “has entered into a stalking horse purchase agreement pursuant to which Red Lobster will sell its business to an entity formed and controlled by its existing term lenders.”

“This restructuring is the best path forward for Red Lobster,” CEO Jonathan Tibus said at the time. “It allows us to address several financial and operational challenges and emerge stronger and re-focused on our growth.”

“The support we’ve received from our lenders and vendors will help ensure that we can complete the sale process quickly and efficiently while remaining focused on our employees and guests,” he added.

Flavor Flav is set to engage in discussions with Red Lobster and is open to the prospect of collaboration soon. Despite potential partnerships, Red Lobster faces significant challenges, having incurred a $76 million loss in 2023, leading to the closure of numerous locations and the recent bankruptcy filing.

The company is however pledging to sustain operations at its 600 remaining restaurants while pursuing a sale.

Flavor Flav’s initiative to support Red Lobster follows his pledge to back the U.S. women’s water polo team for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris.
