A 70-year-old Sarona man was sentenced to prison on Tuesday for eighth-offense operating while intoxicated.

Roger D. Harrison was charged on Aug. 16, 2022, in Barron County Circuit Court with the felony after police say he nearly collided with a vehicle driven by a Barron County Sheriff’s Department investigator while speeding and attempting to pass other vehicles on Highway 8. According to the criminal complaint, Harrison’s preliminary breath test result was 0.249.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge on March 22 and Judge Maureen D. Boyle sentenced him on Tuesday to an eight-year prison sentence, with three years of initial confinement followed by five on extended supervision.

Harrison’s driver’s license will be revoked for 36 months. During supervision he must maintain absolute sobriety and can’t operate a motor vehicle.
