Thomas Rhett shares summer release date for next album 'About A Woman'

Thomas Rhett officially revealed plans for his next album’s rollout, sharing that his forthcoming album, About A Woman , is set to arrive on August 23.

During a recent chat with Audacy, Rhett had already disclosed that after dropping “Beautiful As You” on May 10 he planned on “dropping a song a month, until August 23rd, which is when the album comes out.” Following through on that promise, Rhett followed up the project’s lead single with another release, “Gone Country,” arriving at 5PM ET on Friday, June 7.

Sharing the album title and release date with an announcement post on social media, Rhett revealed the album’s artwork alongside the caption, "I’m so excited to tell y’all that my 7th album ‘About A Woman’ will be out on August 23rd! I’ve been working on this since last April and I can’t wait for y’all to hear it. I genuinely think this will be y’all’s favorite record of mine. 14 tracks that put a smile on my face - I hope they will do the same for you 🤘. Also, “Gone Country” comes out on Friday! Bout to be an awesome summer!”

During that previously mentioned conversation, Rhett talked about taking a different approach with this project saying, “My mission for this album was like, I want my kids and my wife to dance to this album.” Rhett notes it, “passed the test, beyond any other album that I’ve gotten to put out and that puts a smile on my face.”

“I think a lot of my records, there’s been a lot of ballads on a lot of my records, and on this one in particular we picked one, which is like terrifying to me,” Thomas admitted.

“But also… when you go down the list of these songs,” he added, “they’re all so unique and so different and we really explored a lot of different sounds and a lot of different melody structures. And I even approached, you know, this record vocally different than any other record I've done.”

Speaking of — the About A Woman tracklist contains 14 songs, 13 of which Rhett co-wrote. According to statements made to the press, Rhett’s new album will feature that radio-ready Country music his fans have come to love and expect, but with added layers of '80s-inspired production and thumping beats.

Speaking about the album in a statement, Thomas said, “From top to bottom, I wanted to exude joy and fun with this project, and really just make people move. I went into making this record with a fearless attitude, put my blinders and my head down to try to make really fun music.”

“I feel like if you were to ask me about what this record is about, the answer would be it’s about one woman, my wife,” Rhett continued. “It gave me an opportunity to say ‘I love you’ in a lot of different ways.”
