Life hasn't been easy for Caitlin Clark. The No. 1 overall draft pick and already-known superstar has been introduced to the WNBA with a myriad of controversial plays, comments, and veterans seemingly looking to show her her place.

The most controversial incident came in the Indiana Fever's game against the Chicago Sky. Clark was receiving trash talk and then ultimately side-checked by Chennedy Carter. While the media and sports world have had plenty of thoughts on the incident, Caitlin Clark has remained head down and focused on playing basketball.

She was asked about the incident today and being at the center of controversy and provided her first response to how things have been.

"Yeah, I mean, I'm not on social media so I don't see a lot of it but you'd be surprised. Like, I still have my TV on in my house watching sports. You're still aware of it, you still see it. Other than that, my focus is basketball. Sometimes it stinks how much the conversation is outside of basketball. and not the product on the floor and the amazing players on the floor and how good they are for their teams and how great this season has been for women's basketball going from college basketball to now the WNBA," Clark said.

"Some of the crowds are unprecedented and never been seen before. The viewership is amazing. But, yeah, I mean, I try to block it out. I don't have social media on my phone. I don't go on it, I don't see a lot of it. But I don't really think it's that different from when I was in college. Everybody's going to have their opinion. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. That's just what it is and I think you just have to be focused on what's in your locker room, what's in your organization, how your teammates feel, how your coaches feel. For me, that's my focus," Clark continued.

"I have a job to do at the same time so that's where my focus remains," Clark ended with.

Caitlin Clark is 11 games into her WNBA career and is averaging 15.6 points per game, 6.4 assists, and 5.1 rebounds. The Fever, who are just 2-9, resume action Friday, June 7 when they travel to take on the Washington Mystics at 7:30 p.m. ET.
