The Texas High School Rodeo Association's State Finals have returned to the Taylor County Expo Center. Events started Thursday with Boys and Girls Cutting, along with Reined Cow Horse, competitions.

Cutting is the practice of horse and rider separating, or "cutting" a calf from the herd and blocking its return. The Reined Cow Horse is a demonstration of horsemanship skills as it relates to working cattle.

Activities will continue at the Expo Center through the weekend, with the first rodeo performance beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, followed by another in the afternoon at 2 o'clock.
