How rich is the richest family in America?

BENTONVILLE, Ark. ( KNWA/KFTA ) — It’s no secret that the family behind Walmart is America’s richest family, but how rich are they?

The Waltons owe their wealth to two brothers, Sam and Bud, who co-founded Walmart in the 1960s. What began as one store in Rogers, Arkansas, quickly grew to hundreds and thousands decades later.

The wealth has been shared among the heirs and heiresses of Sam and Bud, with seven receiving most of it.

In February 2024 , the family had a combined net worth of $267 billion, nearly double the $152 billion reported a decade ago, according to Forbes.

From April to June, their net worth has jumped by more than $20 billion.

In addition to earnings from Walmart, the family’s fortune is enhanced by owning multiple professional sports franchises.

The Denver Broncos are co-owned by Rob Walton and Greg Penner, the husband of Rob’s daughter Carrie. They purchased the team in 2022 for $4.7 billion.

Stan Kroenke, Ann Walton Kroenke’s husband , owns the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids and Arsenal Football Club among others.

According to Business Insider , Jim, Alice and Rob’s wealth alone has grown by more than $53 billion since the start of 2024, second-most behind Nvidia co-founder Jensen Huang. Forbes data shows Huang’s net worth has climbed from $21.1 billion to $77 billion in the last year.
