Giant Python Swallows Missing Woman Whole

A missing woman was eaten alive by a massive python in the jungles of Indonesia. The 45-year-old woman, named Farida , was reported missing on Thursday (June 6) night.

Farida's husband organized a group of residents from Kalempang village in the South Sulawesi province to search for her. On Friday, they found a 16-foot-long reticulated python with a protruding belly.

"They agreed to cut open the python's stomach. As soon as they did, Farida's head was immediately visible," village chief Suardi Rosi told AFP via Fox News .

A graphic video shows locals using a machete to cut open the python to remove Farida's fully clothed body.

Reticulated pythons are known as some of the world's largest snakes. They grow to an average of about 16 feet long and can weigh around 165 pounds. The largest reticulated python was measured at 32 feet and weighed 350 pounds.

Despite their large size, fatal python attacks on humans are rare as the reptiles mainly feed on larger rodents.
