Fable Gets A New Trailer And 2025 Release Date at Xbox Games Showcase

A new trailer for the newest entry in the ever-popular Fable series was shown today at the Xbox Games Showcase, as well as a release window of 2025.

After seeing the initial trailer for Fable at last summer’s Xbox Summer Showcase , Microsoft was able to reveal more content from the game in the form of gameplay and story details. Fable will seem to center on a character called Humphry, a hero of the land who will be forced out of retirement due to a mysterious force from his past.

The trailer shows Humphry and his mystery companion on some of their early adventures, when he took her under his wing, all while he talks about how good of a hero she was, but at some point, she “made all the wrong choices.” Humphry describes the mystery companion now as “terrifying”, which is foreboding at minimum.

The Fable -centric choice-driven story seems to be returning, but not a lot of other information is available about it at this time.

Under development by Playground Games, better known for the Forza Horizon series of games, Fable will be the first entry in the Xbox series in over 14 years, as Fable III was released in October 2010. The original Fable game was released in 2004 and was developed by Lionhead studios. It received generally positive reviews for its story and gameplay and spawned two (now three) sequels.

Lionhead studios was shut down by Microsoft in 2016 as they were working on a Fable live service title: Fable Legends .
