A dry spell & toasty temps on the way this week
By Matt Cassada,
Sunday evening starts breezy, and some isolated showers contained to our south. As our cold front moves away from the area, rain chances will be no more as we get into the overnight hours. Winds will also subside across the lowlands but still remaining breezy across the higher terrain. Breaks in the clouds allow for temps to drop into the 50s.
Monday begins with a mild morning though the risk for some patchy river fog will be around. The rest of the day will mostly give everyone a reprieve from Sundays showers under a mix of sun and clouds. The eastern mountain counties will have a shot at an isolated shower or two, but everyone else will stay dry as temps get into the 70s.
Tuesday brings in high pressure from the northwest, clearing out our cloud cover in the morning. A cool morning in the 50s will see temps climb into the 70s by dinnertime. With mostly clear skies, the morning and evening commute will be very easy as we enjoy a tiny break!
Wednesday will stick with a similar forecast to Tuesday where high pressure looks to dominate. Not much in the way of rain chances and cloud cover looks minimal for the middle of the week. With little in the way of clouds, temps will rocket into the 80s thanks to a southwest breeze.
Thursday morning once again looks dry with only a few clouds around. Our area of high pressure looks to not be going anywhere for our Thursday, and this will allow for dry and sunny weather to prevail. With more breaks, temps should get back into the 80s.
Friday kicks out our high pressure as we watch a cold front arrive. This system will bring back in the chance for some scattered showers and the chance for a rumble of thunder. This system will clear out of here by Friday night, but not before another warm afternoon with highs in the 80s.
Saturday deals with a cloudy start as our cold front from Friday departs. No rain showers are expected, instead we’ll see clouds clear into the afternoon. By dinnertime, many will see mostly sunny skies. You can also expect a warm afternoon with temps reaching back into the 80s.
In your extended forecast, we dry out next weekend as high pressure builds in. This will likely keep us dry next weekend into Father’s day but we are watching closely for any changes. Rain chances don’t look to return until next Wednesday, but temps will stay very toasty during this time as they stick in the 80s!
