Why does EB give Jayden Daniels a pass for his 'D-minus' first pitch?

To be fair, even JP Flaim said that “in the end, this is meaningless” when the Junkies were discussing Jayden Daniels’ first pitch at Nats Park this weekend – and, to be fair again, ‘there have been a lot worse.’

Still, even if ‘we’re way, way too involved with these pitches,’ because we are and because Daniels is our QB1 of the future, watching him throw a lollipop is going to bring up some negative feelings from folks.

And that brings us to Eric Tiberius Bickel IV (middle name and suffix not necessarily actual), who gives JD5 a pass for that one.

“He went up on the mound and did it like a man, like halfway down the mound,” Cakes said, and this was Eric’s reply:

“Are they literally mocking him for bouncing it?” EB asked. “I did it from the mound in a minor-league game and tried to hum it, and if you hadn’t thrown on a mound in 20 years, the angle is different. Believe me, it affected the angle. If he was that if he was just playing catch on the grass, he wouldn't have one-hopped it.”

Great, but Valdez has some news for Eric:

“I find it funny that EB has been the king bully about the first pitch for as long as I've known him, and now that his quarterback did this, it’s ‘oh, we gotta stop analyzing this too much because he was fine,’” Valdez chimed in. “That was a horrible first pitch, you know it; it wasn’t 50 Cent or Baba Booey level, but it was a D-minus.”
