'Kellyoke' is a segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show in which Clarkson puts her own spin on hit songs from various artists, and she consistently knocks it out of the park. However, Bon Jovi 's “Blaze of Glory” got the best of the powerhouse vocalist during her rehearsal for the performance. It wasn’t the notes Clarkson struggled with, it was the words, which is understandable given the sheer amount of lyrics that must exist in her brain. Watch the blooper reel below to see Clarkson flub the lyrics to the 1990 hit written for the film Young Guns II.

“That is the song that almost killed me,” Clarkson said in the video in reference to “Blaze of Glory.” She further explained how she grew up listening to the song and knows it very well, but for some reason, the words just kept escaping her that day.

The “Since U Been Gone” singer messed up a total of four times and even screamed, “Let me fake my final stand?” at one point in frustration because she incorrectly sang the word “fake” instead of “make.”

Clarkson ultimately took a break from rehearsing the song, but luckily Jon Bon Jovi was there promoting his band’s new album, Forever, which came out on June 7. As soon as Bon Jovi walked out, Clarkson dropped to the floor in embarrassment but quickly rose to give the rockstar a hug. “Come on girlfriend,” Bon Jovi said as they both laughed.

Bon Jovi’s encouragement definitely worked because Clarkson ended up completely nailing the song as her fans are accustomed to her doing. The lyrics, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” from Clarkson’s 2011 hit ring true in this case because even though she jokingly admitted “Blaze of Glory” almost killed her, she gave it another go and delivered a standout performance.

Clarkson isn’t afraid to laugh at herself, which is the quality that drives her charm and appeal. Many artists wouldn’t be brave enough to share their imperfections, but Clarkson puts them on full display. In doing so, she helps people across the world understand that making mistakes is just part of the journey. Check out her full cover of “Blaze of Glory” below.
