The Shallow Ford Foundation along with local organizations and churches came together for the fourth year in a row to celebrate Yadkin County School personnel at the annual Pack the Park appreciation event held at the Yadkin County Shelter at the Yadkin YMCA on May 29. This year featured BBQ, delicious side dishes and desserts provided by area churches, a corn hole tournament, an attendance competition, live music by local favorite None of the Above, 22 gift basket door prizes provided by local businesses, Yadkin County Rotary and Interact Club volunteers, Yadkin Family YMCA volunteers, and golf cart transportation provided by Ray’s Golf Carts and Rotarian, Nolan Brown.
Nearly 400 YCS personnel attended. This year, Starmount Middle School and the Yadkin Early College were the Pack the Park winners. The award goes to the school who has the highest percentage of personnel at the event. Starmount Middle School also won first place in the corn hole tournament and Starmount High School came in second.
“Thank you to all the community partners for making this special, fun-filled day of community gratitude for YCS teachers and staff possible,” said event organizers.
