Marginal risk for severe weather Thursday

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — It was a chilly start to our Tuesday, with overnight lows falling into the mid to low 40s across most of Mid-Michigan.

Thankfully, warmer temperatures will move into the area over the next several days, eventually fueling our potential for strong/severe storms.

We will have mostly sunny conditions for most of the day, but cloud cover will increase in the evening as a weak cold front moves through the area. That front could produce a few isolated sprinkles across Mid-Michigan overnight and into early Wednesday morning, but most of the area will stay completely dry.

A better chance for rain and the potential for a few strong/severe storms will move on Thursday. We could see a few showers and isolated rumbles of thunder early Thursday morning. But, the best time for any strong/severe storms will be in the afternoon and evening as a weak cold front pushes through the area.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed Mid-Michigan in a Level 1 of 5 Marginal Risk, with the primary threat being damaging wind gusts.
