Inject this into my veins. This past weekend, the King and Chris Stapleton teamed up to duet Willie and Merle's classic hit "Pancho and Lefty." Stapleton is currently opening a summer stadium trek for Strait, and I recently saw them at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte and it was truly incredible... I typically don't love shows in such big venues like that, but they were amazing and it's already one of my all-time favorite concerts. I mean, when you get that kind of talent on a bill together, you're setting yourself up for something spectacular. And throughout this little run, they've gotten together a few times
to sing together (as they should), and at Met Life Stadium on Saturday, they pulled out a little Willie and Merle for the enthusiastic crowd. Of course, it was the title track to their collaborative album Pancho & Lefty in 1983, becoming a classic country hit and reaching #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart that year. It was originally a song written and recorded by Townes Van Zandt for his 1972 album The Late Great Townes Van Zandt, and then later by Emmylou Harris in 1976. And obviously, Strait and Stapleton are two of, if not the two, most talented and universally beloved artists in the genre today, so it's always fun getting to see them sing together. Plus, I'm always partial to a legend like King George tipping his hat to the red headed stranger (who is also one of
his personal music heroes ), so this is all I could ever ask for... do yourself a massive favor and check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBV8Mw8msRc "Pancho and Lefty" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoKvUYbGu7A
