Granville Central High School, home of the Panthers, was filled with excitement and emotions by students and guests as the class of 2024 made its way into the gymnasium for graduation June 8.

Joselyn Paneda-Ceja, salutatorian, gave her address in English and in Spanish. Paneda-Ceja, a first generation graduate, became emotional and tears began to flow as she thanked her family for their love and support.

Paneda-Ceja quoted Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”

Paneda-Ceja wished her fellow graduates success, happiness and peace-of-mind and to put God first in all you do.

Katty Isela Galvan Cisneros, valedictorian, remarked that she and Paneda-Ceja were proud to be the first Latino women to hold both valedictorian and salutatorian rankings at Granville Central High School.

She thanked her classmates for helping make many memories and being her friend.

Galvan Cisneros also became emotional when speaking of her family and their support.

After the last Panther crossed the stage, Stan Winborne, superintendent of Granville County Public Schools, pronounced the students as graduates of Granville Central High School.
