    12-year-old shot in NE Ohio ATV accident

    HOLMES COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – The Holmes County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting of a 12-year-old boy.

    It happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, in Clark Township.

    According to the sheriff’s office, a 12-year-old was on a 4-wheeler with a single-shot rifle. While the boy was traveling through a field, the rifle fell off the ATV and discharged.

    The boy was shot with a .22 caliber Rimfire bolt action single-shot rifle, the sheriff said.

    “The round entered his chest and then exited through his shoulder, causing only a single wound,” the sheriff said.

    The boy was conscious and alert when first responders arrived. He was taken to the hospital. There is no update on his condition.
