A New Adventure Time Film & 2 Spin-off Series Are In Development

After the other spin-off series aired last Summer on Max, Fionna & Cake , and received a renewal for season two, Adventure Time has been confirmed to return.

After it was revealed that Adventure Time would be returning to comics in 2025 with a compendium that includes all 35 issues of the comic book run (along with a Fionna & Cake compendium), and Fionna & Cake would be renewed for a season two after being well received last Summer, Cartoon Network Studios has revealed that not only is a spin-off feature film happening in the land of Ooo, but two spin-off series’ have also been ordered, Variety reports .

Currently, details surrounding the untitled Adventure Time film are incredibly sparse, but fans could rejoice that Steven Universe creator, Rebecca Sugar and former Adventure Time showrunner, Adam Muto have been signed on to help steer the project. Both animators are AT veterans, and Over The Garden Wall co-creator, Patrick McHale has also signed on to the project.

Along with the upcoming Adventure Time movie, Cartoon Network Studios has also confirmed two other children-based series set in the timeline of the hit series have also been ordered. Adventure Time : Side Quests is a series that explores how Jake the Dog and Finn the Human interacted before the events of the Cartoon Network series, without spanning multiple episodes to tell one narrative. The Side Quests will be shorter form content and will deliver standalone stories featuring younger versions of characters from the hit series. Series longtime artist and Emmy Award Winner Nate Cash has signed on for Side Quests .

The last thing announced is Adventure Time: Heyo BMO , a pre-school series featuring the video game console, BMO. BMO and a group of newly introduced friends will have to contend against age-appropriate problems for younger audiences. AT veteran Adam Muto, and artist Ashlyn Anstee are signed on to the project.

It appears more adventures are on the way in the land of Ooo, with the return of Fionna & Cake, Heyo BMO and Side Quests . While no release dates have been given just yet, fans can head to the official Cartoon Network website for more information ahead of time.
