These Are the Best U.S. Airlines of 2024, New Study Finds

With the summer travel season heating up, you might run into some obstacles at the airport, whether it be crowded security lines or flight delays and cancellations. When it comes to traveling domestically, picking an airline can sometimes feel like playing Russian roulette, especially in these times when people will be traveling in droves.

To help take the guesswork out of picking the airline for your next flight, travel site The Points Guy has compiled a list of the 10 best U.S. airlines for 2024. "We understand that a traveler’s airline choice is a personal decision based on how they like to fly. That’s why we created this resource to help readers understand where different airlines excel and fall short, so they can make informed decisions," The Points Guy founder Brian Kelly said in a press release provided to Men's Journal .

For the sixth year in a row, Delta Air Lines claimed the top spot on the list. Its position, Kelly says, "prov[es] that consistency is key for travelers as they take to the skies in record number." It's trailed by Alaska Airlines in second place, United in third, and American in fourth. Low-cost carriers, meanwhile, bring up the rear, with Allegiant Air, Spirit Airlines , and Frontier Airlines rounding out the list.

The rankings were created using a combination of metrics related to each airline's services. The Points Guy examined each airline's reliability, experience, loyalty programs, cost, and available destinations, using data from the U.S. Department of Transportation including passenger complaints and lost luggage reports to reach their conclusions.
