Metallica is set to rock the blocks in epic Fortnite concert

Touring the entire world just wasn’t enough for Metallica , as they have announced a series of digital performances in collaboration with online gaming universe Fortnite.

Following the likes of Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish , Metallica is set to hit the graphics stage! The Metallica and Fornite collaboration was just announced yesterday, and is already available in a new update from now until August 16. The collaboration is massive. spanning all four games within the Fornite Universe -- Fortnite Festival , Battle Royale , LEGO Fortnite , and Rocket Racing . That’s right, a LEGO Metallica is on its way!

On the gaming side, Metallica’s band members will be introduced as playable characters, their instruments as weapons, their songs as playable tunes in game, and a LOT of other loot goodies. Fortnite has also announced a new battle mode to mark the occasion, called The Battle Stage. Akin to a battle of the bands, 16 players play the same 4 songs with the goal to play better. Of course, it wouldn’t be a true Fornite battle if you couldn’t shoot another player, right? If you play well enough, you can load attacks and try to mess up the other band. There's nothing more 'metal' than “Master of Puppets” paired with a full-fledged battle scene!

While these features will stay in the game until the fall, it seems the collaboration's biggest pull is the two-night-only digital performances. The band’s virtual music festival will be available to view on the Fornite homepage on June 22 and 23, aptly titled Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury. There will be three showtimes on each date, in which fans can click in and view all that the collaboration has in store. “This journey through six of Metallica’s fan-favorite songs features gameplay that matches the intensity. The Master of Puppets awaits” said Fornite in their announcement .
