The Pike County Office of the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs partner with the Council on Substance Abuse for an outreach event for veterans at South Alabama Electric Co-on Tuesday.

Randy Ross, Pike County Veteran Affairs Officer, said the Alabama Council on Substance provide guidelines and programs to help veterans who are suffering from addiction in their recovery.

“Many times, when veterans return from having served in conflict or war, they face many obstacles in adapting back into the life they once knew and some turn to drugs or other means to cope,” Ross said.

The Alabama Department of Veteran assists veterans and their families in any way possible, Ross said.

“With the PACT Act and other ongoing claims processes, it can be overwhelming for the veterans, Ross said. “This workshop shared information, as well as a benefits workshop. The Pike County Veterans Affairs Office is located at the Pike County Courthouse and we are there to serve our veterans.”

The number to call is 334-566-1780.
