Arya Raises $7.5M for AI-Powered Sexual Wellness Platform

Arya uses AI to understand a couple’s intimacy goals before providing advice, recommending activities and even sending a “fantasy package” curated by in-house sexologists

Artificial intelligence is headed to the bedroom to help couples become more adventurous or reignite a lost spark while improving their physical and mental health.

Arya , a confidential and nonjudgmental AI-based holistic sexual wellness platform, has raised $7.5 million in a seed round and has added sexologist and relationship expert Shan Boodram to the team as its (appropriately titled) chief intimacy officer. The platform plans to support and expand its community of 250,000-plus users.

The seed round was co-led by Patron and Play Ventures. At.inc/ and Heracles Capital also contributed, as did several angel investors, including Casper co-founder Neil Parikh, former Oura CEO Harpreet Singh Rai and BetterHealth founder and CEO Naama Breckler.

With Boodram on board, Arya plans to expand the offerings of Arya’s AI-driven concierge service, which learns about a couple through a comprehensive questionnaire and an algorithm developed by relationship researchers and sex therapists.

The Arya Concierge takes the time to get to know a couple’s intimacy goals before providing advice, recommending activities, and even sending a “fantasy package” curated by Arya’s in-house sexologists. If users need further help, they can also access an intimacy mentor.

“Collectively, we have been misled that a healthy relationship equates to never-ending passion,” Boodram said. “As I have seen in my work, research and personal life, that is simply not true. As companionship builds, passion cools, and I have spent my career helping couples embrace this inevitable reality and the exciting responsibilities that come with it. In early romance, we have lust and make love. As relationships mature, we have love and make lust.”

As Arya’s co-founder and CEO Offer Yehudai points out, consumers have become increasingly invested in health and wellness following the pandemic, with sexual wellness playing a significant part in a holistic approach to health.

“Our goal is to help couples better prioritize sexual wellness,” Yehudai said. “This is why we brought Shan onto the team. Her authentic, relatable approach to intimacy reflects our mission to help individuals integrate sexual wellness into their health and longevity goals.”

    No Longer Taboo

Sexual wellness has become normalized, supported in part by a slew of startups focused on sexual health.

It’s also led to some cross-collaborations. Last month, women’s health app Rosy partnered with online fitness company obé to create educational content on women’s health that dives into the intersection between exercise and sex drive. The Dallas-based and physician-founded Rosy has raised $5 million since its 2019 launch.

Also launched in 2019 is HeHealth, a doctor-validated sexual health app for men, which has raised $2.6 million, according to Pitchbook. The AI-driven app allows users to detect penile issues by scanning an image and instantly receiving possible conditions. Within 24 hours, a doctor reviews the case and users are then able to connect with partnered clinics if needed.

Evvy, a female-founded AI-powered vaginal healthcare startup that launched in 2021, raised $14 million last September. The company offers a vaginal microbiome test, STI and antibiotic-resistant testing and treatment when necessary.
