'My mother wore a beautiful dress at my wedding - people said she tried to outshine me'

Everyone wants to look their best at a wedding , whether they're the couple, family or friends. But is there a boundary that shouldn't be crossed to avoid overshadowing the bride?

A mother has recently been criticised for the dress she chose to wear to her daughter's wedding.

A TikTok video showed Lori DeWitt, 53, walking down the aisle in a green floral gown with a train and plunging neckline. The dress is from Flora on Madison, a New York bridal boutique.

In the TikTok video from wedding photographer @CapturedbyChloeCo, Lori confidently walks down the aisle in her elegant gown, and also poses side-by-side with the bride.

However, the commenters were puzzled by the mother's choice of dress. Some believed she was upstaging the bride on her special day, reports the Mirror US .

One person commented: "Beautiful but definitely shadows the plain white dress."

"Don't get me wrong she does look stunning in that dress, but it's a bit much on a day where her daughter's dress should've been the star of the show, not saying she has to dress like an old frumpy lady," another added.

"Am I the only one who thinks the train isn't appropriate? ? ".

Not everyone agreed with these views. Some thought she should wear whatever makes her feel beautiful during her daughter's wedding.

One commenter said: "FINALLY a [mother-of-bride] dress that is not frumpy and disgusting looking! MOB Dresses need a drastic overhaul! This dress is stunning."

"Stunning! I want my mom to shine like this on my wedding day," a supporter expressed.
