Sal: Why is Aaron Rodgers seen as a New York sports star despite playing just four snaps with Jets?

Sal is a big fan of Aaron Rodgers, and is holding out hope that he can get back to his MVP ways and finally guide the Jets into the playoffs, and possibly even beyond.

But he can’t believe how many Jets fans seem to treat Rodgers like loyalty, considering how much he has actually contributed on the field since arriving in New York.

“How many interviews do you think Rodgers has done with McAfee?” Sal asked BT. “How many Broadway shows has he attended in this great city? Ten? Twelve? How many minicamps has he missed, and how many games has he played?

“Think about it, he’s missed more minicamps than he’s played games. He’s all over the place with Broadway shows and taking in the town, which is great. Taylor Swift concerts and all that. He’s done everything but actually play for the New York Jets. Literally everything you could possibly do…he’s been at more Knicks, Rangers, and Yankee games than he’s played Jets games.

    “Talk about ass backwards.”

Rodgers has played just four snaps with the Jets, tearing his Achilles in Week 1 of his tenure in New York. That will hopefully change in 2024, but so far, Rodgers hasn’t gotten the Jets close to where they hoped to go with him under center, leading Sal to wonder why so many fans seem to talk about him like a heroic figure who is immune from criticism.

“I’m not saying it’s his fault,” Sal said. “But we talk about this guy like a New York sports star…he hasn’t played a quarter of football yet.”
