1 injured in Rt 35 rollover crash in Putnam County, road closed

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – A portion of Route 35 is closed in Putnam County due to a vehicle crash.

According to Putnam County 911 dispatchers, the crash happened around 2 p.m. Friday on Route 35 near Tuckers Branch Road, which is just north of the Winfield exit. Dispatchers say an asphalt dump truck rolled over and caught fire.

Dispatchers tell WOWK 13 News one person has been taken to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

There is no word on how long the roadway will remain closed. Northbound traffic is being detoured at the U.S. 35/State Route 34 interchange. Putnam County 911 says drivers should avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

The Winfield Volunteer Fire Department, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Putnam County EMS responded to the scene.
