Insiders Just Revealed How Miley Cyrus Is Feeling About Her Father Billy Ray Cyrus’ Divorce

When Billy Ray Cyrus and his ex-wife of 28 years Tish Cyrus called it quits, drama within the Cyrus family ensued. Of course, tensions then only rose when Billy Ray got engaged and later married country singer Firerose only months after their divorce. But, with the news of Billy Ray’s divorce from Firerose after just seven months together, it seems the Cyrus family might be on the right path to reconcile.

“Miley, Noah, and their siblings really never understood the relationship and why Billy married her so abruptly,” a source told Us Weekly of how Billy Ray and Tish’s kids felt about it all. “No one approved of the marriage.”

With their split, it seems the “Flowers” singer is looking forward to a fresh start. “Miley is hopeful this will give some peace to the family,” the insider added. “And she thinks this is a good step in the right direction for him.”

As a reminder, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer cited “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” as the reason for his and Firerose’s split, E! News reports. Billy Ray, who tied the knot with the Australian singer on October 2023, also requested an annulment instead of a divorce on the grounds that “consent to marriage was obtained by fraud.”

And, earlier this month, Billy Ray hinted he’s also open to a truce when he posted a sweet throwback post with Miley.

“That’s @mileycyrus and me, surrounded by thousands of incredible fans at the [Country Music Awards festival],” he wrote in the caption next to a close-up of him holding the “Wrecking Ball” singer. “The next day, someone handed me this picture, and I wrote that poem right then on the bus.”

Underneath the photo, Billy Ray placed two pieces of paper that have a handwritten poem titled “The Moment.” Amid the scribbles and edits, Billy Ray penned a moving poem about the photo and him — “an armored shining knight” — and Miley — “the princess that he loved.”
