A wedding is often a celebration happily shared with friends and family, but in one case a bride-to-be who can’t stand her mother-in-law has other plans .

She would rather not have her at the ceremony. Heading to Reddit she detailed the situation for eager listeners.

She said : “For context, I (24F) married to my fiancé (25M) In about a month. All through our relationship my mother-in-law has despised me and prayed on our downfall. But in the last months of our engagement she's been a total a—---.”

The woman gave an example of how her mother-in-law has not been the nicest to her.

She wrote: “When I was going to pick up my bridesmaid's dresses, she requested to come with so she can look at the dresses so they were appropriate. I subtly told her no, as all the bridesmaids had seen the ideal dresses, and saw no problem with it as it matches the theme of the wedding and is appropriate. She told me the mother-in-law is always with when its wedding dress shopping season.

“The reason why I was uncomfortable with her coming with me to pick up the dresses was because about 7 months ago when I went shopping in hopes of finding my dream wedding dress, She requested to come with me and my bridesmaids, I agreed to the request and picked her up on the way cause I thought it’d be a little bonding experience, but no.”

Apparently, throughout the dress-shopping process, the mother-in-law made her strong opinions clear.

“Throughout the shopping and trying on dresses she was the only one who had a strong opinion like ‘Thats too masculine’ or ‘That shows to much’ etc.

“Meanwhile my bridesmaids was hyping me up like crazy, she was a hater. I ended up getting a beautiful handmade floral-mermaid design wedding dress. She did not like it and said ‘I’m not paying for that.’

“I brushed it off and I told her In seriousness, that It’s fine as I had saved for the dress.”

Soon, things took a turn for the worse.

“This is where it gets bad she blatantly takes a picture of the dress. Tells me my Facebook followers is going to love this. One of my bridesmaids has had enough and says ‘you do not show anyone else the wedding dress, if it's not someone that she’s given permission to.’

“My mother-in-law was stunned, when I got home I told my husband-to-be and he was fuming after that incident.”

The incident eventually let them to decide that the wedding might be better off sans the mother-in-law.

“We have decided to cut her off after the wedding and not invite her. She only recently found out about this and when I tell you guys she called me crying she said that ‘I am audibly disrespectful and doesn’t deserve her baby boy’ I hung up.

“She was only in my life to destroy everything between us which even her own son has agreed on.”

It seems there were more incidents apart from the dress situation.

“But not only the wedding dress incident, there was also an incident where she found out that it was a no kids wedding this she also complained to my husband about saying it would be just blatantly disrespectful to his younger siblings that also want to come and is so excited for our future together.

“For context, his younger siblings are four and seven the age where they’d like to run around and can't sit still. He said it’s an elegant formal wedding with expensive furniture all around. We don’t want it to get destroyed by some little four and seven-year-olds.

“It lead to him telling his mother to f— off. And we haven’t heard anything from her since, but a part of me is still scared that she’ll show up, even though her invite has been drawn back.”
