6 cases heard for sentencing Friday

On Friday, 9th Circuit Judge M. James Chaney heard six sentencing cases.

Jonathan Willis, charged with 4th offense driving under the influence, was remanded to drug court.

Antonio Glasper, who had previously been charged with receiving stolen property, stated the car he had purchased had an intact VIN number and he had no reason to believe the car had been involved in a crime. A previous guilty plea was determined to be a clerical error and vacated by the state. Glasper was given five years of probation and ordered to pay a fine and court costs.

Modarius Herron was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of shooting at a vehicle, and one count of shooting at an occupied home, which occurred in 2021 when the defendant was 15 years old. He pled guilty and the sentence recommended by the state — 20 years suspended sentence, plus time served, five years probation and court costs and fines — was agreed upon.

Jerome Jones appeared for revocation of a previous judgment. He was remanded to drug court.

Amanda Nowell was charged with revocation of a previous sentence and was given a 15-year suspended sentence with five years of probation.

Kendrick Adams was granted a “Judgement Nisi,” which is a term used when a person misses court and the judge enters a bond forfeiture.
