SEE IT: Fleet Week jets in Baltimore wow crowd at Orioles-Phillies game, result in 'fighter jet timeouts'

The crowd of 44,525 people turned up at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Sunday to see the Baltimore Orioles play the Philadelphia Phillies. They got a bit more action than they expected.

And, no, it wasn't the four home runs the Orioles hit in an 8-3 win or Philadelphia manager Rob Thomas' explosive reaction and sixth-inning ejection.

It was instead the roar of passing fighter jets as Baltimore hosted Maryland Fleet Week over the weekend.

Of course, playing a Major League Baseball game while jets roar overhead can be a bit of an issue. So home plate umpire Mike Estabrook – after he had finished ejecting Thomas – was forced into pausing the game until the noise dissipated on more than one occasion.

At one point, the crowd began letting out “USA!” chants.

“I tell you what. I’ve never felt more American during a baseball game,” Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser, who smacked one of those homers 443 feet to center, said after the game. “I was really hoping I’d be hitting during one and someone got a picture or something.”
