GRAMMY-winning Audacy Launch Artist Muni Long recently called in to video chat with host Julia all about “Made For Me,” making love songs, and a whole lot more.

Talking about her recent success and how her song “Made For Me” has made an impact on her, Muni referenced lyrics from her second hit single noting “I can't put into words how I feel,” adding “I don't really think that I've had a chance to fully digest it.”

“The way social media works is so crazy… there’s this sense of detachment. I don't actually think I will ever understand how that song has impacted people,” the singer went on to say.

“Somebody told me a story the other day about, you know, they heard police officers over the radio dispatchers like — ‘Twin, where have you been?’ You know, so it's just like, how can I ever really know unless I'm in those moments? But I'm definitely excited for what ‘Made For Me’ has done for me as an artist, and new opportunities, more music.”

Speaking of more music, Muni recently also stopped by Audacy’s LA studio for a conversation with Bru and during their chat, Muni revealed her album title, Revenge , for the first time and filled fans in on what exactly to expect -- and when it’ll drop.

Julia noted that “there's not enough artists who still make love songs, aside from Muni" -- and Long proudly expressed, “I'm happy to be the person.”

“I fully believe in love,” she continued. “Even though it's kind of crazy out here… according to Twitter, you know, the dating pool is an acid. But you know, I just, I really do believe you can find your person and you can have a drama-free partnership with somebody.”

Acknowledging that “love hasn't been super popular throughout the last few years.” Muni maintained, “I think that's why my songs work… because maybe people are tired of being alone… especially after the pandemic… everybody was kind of like isolated. So, it was perfect timing for me.”

Another reason why Muni’s love songs are so relatable shines through in her latest release “Made Me Forget,” which as Julia pointed out has “very real elements to it where love isn't perfect.”

Discussing the love song, Muni, who’s been “married for nine years,” which she noted, “a lot of people don't know that about me,” said it’s about “Human relationships. Whether it's platonic or, you know, romantic... no relationship is perfect.”

“Everybody’s experiencing life for the first time and there needs to be grace and there needs to be communication and transparency,” Long shares, adding that while “sometimes people get caught up in the honeymoon phase… real love is like — What about your ugly days? What about when you're annoying? What about when I'm irritated? When I'm down, when I'm sick, and I'm asking you for a million things that moment, right when you sit down and I'm like, hey, can you go get me...? You know what I mean? Like, what about that?”

Now that the song is out and everyone else gets to hear it, Muni said, “It's like looking at yourself in the mirror,” further explaining, “Like when I hear my music in headphones, it's like looking at myself in the mirror, right? I know what I look like, but the mirror is just kind of confirming it. So, I know what I sound like and I'm listening to it.”

“It sounds like how I heard it in my head when I was thinking of it when I was making it,” she continued. “But when it's out in the world and I'm watching how other people use it, it’s like seeing yourself on TV.”

Muni also brought up her appreciation that “people are embracing R&B,” plus discussed working with Jermaine Dupree , and more. To catch it all, press play on the interview above.
