Lacuna Coil Ditches Longtime Guitarist

Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil has been successfully touring the globe and releasing music since the mid-90s. Earlier this year, the band wrapped up their “Ignite The Fire” U.S. tour, and vocalist Christina Scabbia said the group was already working on new material that could see the light of day later this year.

Guitarist Diego Cavallotti joined the band temporarily in 2016 but eventually became a full time member. That ended earlier this week when the band announced they were parting ways with the guitarist.

“As we step into a new cycle, writing and recording our next album, we are parting ways with Diego ‘DD’ Cavallotti,” the band wrote in a statement. “We thank him for the many unforgettable moments shared over the years and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. All future live plans remain unchanged and the new songs are taking form, we can’t wait to share them with our fans.”

No further details were available, and as of this writing, Cavallotti had not issued a response.
