A giant national pizza chain suddenly shuttered 15 locations across Indiana, with Illinois to follow suit next month. According to Daily Mail , Pizza Hut plans to close nearly 150 restaurants "due to an ongoing financial dispute with one of its major franchisees." The locations, spread across Georgia, Illinois, South Carolina, and Wisconsin, are slated to shutter in the "coming weeks and months."

EYM Group, the company that operates the locations that are closing, placed financial blame on the national pizza chain highlighting an inability to pay their bills. The franchisee also attributes the closures to Pizza Hut's insufficient modernization of their menu and app in comparison to other massive pizza chains, and multiple failed research and marketing strategies for which the company was given a budget.

Daily Mail mentioned that staff at the Indiana locations that suddenly shuttered were given "no warning ahead of the closures" and were told to file for unemployment. A Pizza Hut spokesperson commented on the upcoming closures noting a potential to reopen in the future.

"The company is working to transition these locations and expects many of them will reopen soon."

Information regarding which Illinois Pizza Hut locations will shutter by July 7th has yet to be revealed.
