Caitlin Clark was was left off Team USA's Women's Basketball roster heading into this summer's 2024 Paris Olympic Games — sparking feverish discourse around the basketball world.

Some feel Clark's superstardom should have landed her a spot on the Olympic roster. Others feel the WNBA rookie still has a lot left to prove before she deserves a roster spot representing her country.

Kevin Durant is a member of the latter group.

During a recent interview, Durant supported Team USA's decision to leave Clark off this year's roster.

That being said, the Phoenix Suns superstar believes there's no doubt Clark will eventually land on a future Olympic team.

"I still think it’s proper steps you gotta take in our world to be considered an Olympian," Durant said. "I think she’s gonna definitely be on one of these teams going forward, but right now it’s better candidates out there, I think. But Caitlin’s just gotta continue to keep showing up every day, and the WNBA is doing a great job of showcasing her. I’m seeing her games on ESPN every other day. I've seen talks around - no matter what they’re talking about, there’s a lot of dialogue around the game right now, so that’s good as well."

While Clark won't play for the U.S. this summer, the WNBA's No. 1 overall pick made it very clear that that's her ultimate goal.

“It’s where I want to be,” Clark said of Team USA earlier this year. “Three-on-three is really cool. I’ve just never done it. But 5-on-5 is the goal and the dream. To play with the best in the world and against the best in the world, you can’t script it better than that."
