Beckley Mayor Rob Rappold to appoint interim city manager before July 1

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Longtime Beckley mayor Rob Rappold is set to leave office for good on on June 30, 2024.

Before July 1, 2023, Mayor Rappold said he would appoint an interim city manager for the City of Beckley, the first city manager in the history of Beckley.

A number of Beckley Common Council members and residents were curious on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, to learn the appointee.

Rappold, however, said he was not yet ready to announce the choice.

He said he was still considering between two candidates, both Beckley residents, and that he was speaking with the city attorney regarding possible compensation packages.

The interim city manager would serve until Beckley Common Council appointed a permanent city manager.
