A Dripping Springs woman turned 101 and was celebrated with a party attended by family and friends at Ledgestone Senior Living in Dripping Springs.

Edna A. Ware, née Krieg, who goes by the nickname “Eddie,” was born June 13 in Taylor, Tx. After graduating from Durham’s Business College in Austin, she met and married Gordon Ware in San Antonio. Nearly nine years later, the couple, who shared a love of dancing, welcomed their daughter, Terry Lynn.

Eddie retired from a career in the Austin Independent School District, and after the death of her husband, traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe with her sister, Lille. In between travels, she volunteered in many capacities, including in the Office of the Governor.

Eddie’s advice for a long life is “to be happy and positive and to run and do things for as long as you possibly can.”
