House of Dragons has just started its second season run, and Game of Thrones continues to keep its foot on the gas with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight entering production this week.

There is no shortage of stories to tell in the Game of Thrones mythos , and it appears HBO continues to strike while the iron is hot and has entered another George R.R. Martin writing into TV series production, while House of Dragon ‘s second season is still ongoing. The next Game of Thrones TV adaptation will be from the novella “The Hedge Knight” (also penned by George R.R. Martin) and follows the trials of the knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set approximately 100 years before Game of Thrones , and 100 years after House of the Dragon making it a middle point in the timeline.

This sets the new series in the center of the Targaryen dynasty, which means many of the historical characters from the ‘pure-bloodline’ family of dragons will appear. HBO says the series will be “executive produced by George R. R. Martin, Ira Parker, Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has received a straight to series order” and and will run around three seasons long according to IGN . Cast information has also been spilled with Finn Bennett ( True Detective ) as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford ( Servant ) as Tanselle, Daniel Ings ( The Crown ) as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell ( Snow White and the Huntsman ) as Maekar Targaryen.

HBO has explained A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight further with “two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

House of the Dragon is still running its second season, so fans can head over to our coverage of that series while it is ongoing for the meantime while more information continues to release on the newly announced A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms : The Hedge Knight .
