    • Nancy MacKenzie died in mid-June at the age of 81.
    • MacKenzie dubbed the voice of Marge in ‘The Simpsons’ in Latin America for the first 15 seasons of the show and did voice work for films.

Nancy MacKenzie voiced The Simpsons Marge Simpson in Spanish for Latin America for the first 15 seasons of the show and dubbed other characters in movies like The Matrix. Her co-stars from the Latin-American version of The Simpsons, Patricia Acevedo and Claudia Motta, announced her sudden passing on Instagram, accompanied by a short note referencing her role as their TV mom.

Although the cause of her death was not stated, Nancy died at 81 with no known health challenges in recent times. Other colleagues, including Humberto Velez, who played Homer Simpson, also paid tribute to her via social media, while reminiscing about their time together.

Fans pay tribute to the late Nancy MacKenzie

Fans joined Nancy’s TV husband to pay respects to the iconic voice actress, noting that she was a core part of their childhood. “What unfortunate news, her voice will remain in the history of dubbing, thank you Peru for giving us such a talented woman,” one supporter wrote, acknowledging her Peruvian-Mexican roots.

Velez praised MacKenzie for her work ethic, love for life, and for making the most important project of his life an enjoyable experience. “We will always remember you very much, we will miss you very much, and we will always love you, you are now our angel Marge,” one of Velez’s followers said.

    Nancy’s thriving career

Nancy’s career lasted for over five decades since she moved to Mexico in her twenties— starring in Mexican soap operas, stage performances, and TV roles. She even voiced Hollywood stars like Diane Keaton, Sigourney Weaver, Judi Dench, and Bette Midler, and was behind Disney’s Cruella de Vil and The Thirteen Ghosts Of Scooby-Doo’s Daphne.

Nancy did more child-friendly parts like playing Sailor Galaxia in Sailor Moon, Miss Keane in The Powerpuff Girls, and Winifred Sanderson in the Hocus Pocus movie. Nonetheless, her most notable and popular role was as Marge on the long-time show, which is in its 35th season with about 750 episodes by time of writing. It is no surprise that The Simpsons earned its reputation as the longest-running animated series, sitcom, and scripted primetime series so far.
