    Military museum hosts Fourth of July festival

    The Military Heritage Museum, 900 W. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, is sponsoring a full day of fun activities for the whole family, celebrating and remembering our patriotic heritage. From 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the Gulf Theater is a live presentation of “The Story of our Flag” by the Punta Gorda Elkettes #2606, as they tell the story of the history of the American flag using nine actual flags from the past.

    In addition, a Liberty’s Kids Video, “The First Fourth of July 1776,” will be shown from 11:30 a.m. to noon, followed by a live presentation from 1:30 to 2 p.m., “After the Battle: A History of Healing.” Also enjoy the documentary “Revolution” and the 3D movie “Journey to Space,” as well as Huey cockpit tours, flight simulator, virtual reality and a remote control tank course. The lunch counter is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., cash only. A food truck, Smooth Treats and More will be available on the front lawn from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    Fourth of July hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for kids up to 14 years, $12 for veterans, and $14 for adults. For more information, see www. militaryheritagemuseum.org , or call 941-575-9002 or 941-655-8315.

Community Development is dedicated to fostering a collaborative and transparent process, ensuring that all stakeholders benefit from these planning efforts.
