Home consumed by fire near Jasper Barton County line

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) — About 1:45 a.m. Thursday a caller near County Road 270 and Thorn Lane alerted Jasper County E-911 saying the neighbors house was on fire.

Asbury Fire, Jasper County Deputies and METS ambulance responded. Auto mutual aid kicked in and Jasper Fire Protection District and Tri-Cities Fire were alerted.

First fire on the scene stated the home was fully involved.

We learn from Asbury Fire Chief Joe Lair the residence is a large home with a basement. They residents were not home.

The roof and virtually all walls are gone. All that remains is a north wall and a fireplace we can observe in the dark.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office was contacted to assist investigation, which is protocol. He arrived at 4:15 a.m.

All departments continue a tanker shuttle from hydrant and back to getting in line even though it’s been 75 minutes since first on scene.

No firefighters suffered injury. However you can tell some are exhausted.

The Red Cross was requested to assist the family, now displaced.
