Insiders Believes Queen Camilla Could Drive a Wedge Between King Charles & Grandkids Archie & Lilibet

Queen Camilla has been having a lot of grandchild-related flubs lately. In March, Buckingham Palace scrambled to clarify a comment she made about her grandson Louis. She raised eyebrows last month when she gushed about her “most incredible” night out with “all” her grandkids. And now, a royal expert is claiming she might stand in the way of King Charles III forming a stronger relationship with his grandkids Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

According to royal expert Tom Quinn, King Charles has had “discussions” about visiting the United States and seeing his son Prince Harry’s family. But sources who spoke to Us Weekly think the visit is unlikely. They say the queen consort has been urging her husband to keep his distance from Harry given their highly turbulent relationship.

“Camilla dislikes Harry and doesn’t want Charles to get stressed while he’s undergoing [cancer] treatment, so she tries to limit interaction,” a source told the outlet.

Meanwhile, the monarch is reportedly “holding out hope of salvaging their relationship but is hugely conflicted because Harry has hurt [his son Prince] William and Camilla so much.” Another insider reminded the publication that this isn’t one-sided familial drama, saying, “Harry has also been hurt.”

The news of Camilla possibly being an obstacle comes soon after a report that the King is “not content” with just seeing the Sussex kids over FaceTime.

“[Charles] values family above everything and whatever the course of his relationship with his son he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call,” an insider told The Daily Mail .

King Charles has only met these young grandchildren “a handful of times” and is now “keener than ever” to “make up for lost time.” It might be an epiphany given his health troubles, and I can appreciate that, but it’s hard to feel sympathetic for a man who has all the power to make it easy to “make up for lost time.”

If he can’t go to California, he could make it possible for Prince Harry and his family to come to the U.K. That currently isn’t happening (and might not ever) because the courts refuse to grant Prince Harry, his wife Meghan Markle, and their kids adequate security. And the Duke of Sussex is understandably unwilling to bring his family somewhere where he can’t guarantee their safety.

But I find it pretty damn hard to believe King Charles couldn’t change that situation. Or that he couldn’t bypass his wife’s wishes (as if he hasn’t done that in the past) and see his son and grandkids in Montecito anyway.
