McDonald's unveils $5 meal deal - here's what you can get for your money

McDonald's has finally revealed the contents of its new $5 value meal, joining other fast food chains in offering affordable options for budget-conscious customers .

The deal, which will be available from June 25 , includes a choice of a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries, a 4-piece Chicken McNuggets and a small soft drink - but no dessert .

Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald's USA, said: "We heard our fans loud and clear they're looking for even more great value from us, and this summer that's exactly what they'll get."

He added: "Value has always been part of our DNA. We're focused on living up to that legacy and offering delicious, affordable options customers can enjoy any time they walk through our doors, go through our drive-thru thru or place an order through our app."

The offer will only be available for a limited period, with meal deals priced at $6 in select restaurants in Alaska, California , Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, New York ( Manhattan only) and Washington.

Additionally, fans can enjoy a free medium fry every Friday for the rest of 2024 by using the McDonald's app and making a minimum purchase of $1.

This comes as inflation has seen fast food prices rise by 28 percent since 2019. Other chains, such as Wendy's, have also introduced Value Meal options, with breakfast deals for $3 and lunch and dinner options for $5 or $6.

Burger King offers a $5 meal deal that includes a choice of three sandwiches, nuggets, fries and a drink.
